Mainly I wanted to try some new background techniques. I used masking tape and different blue color washes to get the desired effect.
I also wanted to force myself to use another color combination than my favorite yellow/red/black one I used so many times in my recent pieces.
As for the title: Janus is a Roman god that is identified with doors, gates, and all beginnings and that is depicted with two opposite faces.
The original size is 10"x20" on canvas board.
Materials used: acrylics, paper, twine
